With that springtime weather finally arriving, it puts an extra spring in our step! How about you? We are constantly on the hunt for items for your home to reflect the season and trends. It’s easy to freshen up any space for spring with a few furniture or décor pieces.
Springtime means the start of outdoor cooking, picnics and BBQ’s! If you’re on the hunt for some beautiful, quality outdoor furniture, we love this piece from Woodard Furniture. The fact that it’s versatile and sits in two different directions makes it unique. Adding a standing umbrella is a perfect idea for the warming sun, and fire tables are the perfect furniture accessories for those cooler evenings. Add some classy string lights and boom! The perfect spring evening mood is set!
Moving indoors, adding an Easter touch with interchangeable cabinet knobs is an easy, subtle change. These adorable bunny knobs or pastel colored knobs are so fun! From marble printed pillowcases to fresh candles and prints of seasonal flowers, these simple accessories are sure to make a big change. To add a more eccentric vibe, try a bronze or silver metallic basket filled with Easter décor or even used as a wastebasket. How about some ceramic animal inspired planter pots? Touches of green undoubtedly say, “spring time!”
And our favorite springtime accessory: this water colored sheepskin! If this doesn’t add a dreamy funk to your home, we’re not sure what will! We’ll take 2 please!
Here at APJ, we want to offer you a few design tips for your spring decorating!
-Just like those pastel colors seen in that funky colored sheepskin, we recommend taking a chance with color! Add some colorful throws, pastel pillows or change out your bedding to something that says “spring!” rather than the dull colors winter tends to bring sometimes. These West Elm coverlets & quilts have some fun colors that will spruce up your bedroom. These cushion coverlets from H&M Home can be placed over your existing sofa cushions to add simple hints of color & texture (plus, they’re inexpensive!).
-Table runners are decorative, but can also be practical. Nothing sets the spring mood like an Easter table setting. A tablecloth, table runner and some cloth napkins placed on neutral-colored dinnerware will quickly transform a boring breakfast nook or dining table. Pottery Barn offers a large assortment of table runners, and we love this embroidered piece!
– The color white is definitely trendy right now, and brightens up any space with the use of a quick white accessory. Try painting a terracotta pot white and add a plant to your living room. Collect some white ceramic eggcups (like these) and line them in rows for a cute organizing tool in your desk or kitchen. You can fill them with anything from paperclips to stamps, cut flowers or hard candies. Painting frames white for a gallery wall in your hallway or living room is also an easy way to add the fresh color of white this season.
-If you follow our APJ instagram account (@allporju), this next tip won’t be a surprise; maybe you’ve already implemented it into your home? Fresh produce and farmer’s markets are just around the corner! You can start now to add that fresh vibe (and color!) to your kitchen. Next time you’re grocery shopping, pick up some fresh lemons or limes and display them in a bowl on your kitchen counter or island. The smell and the color will make you jump for joy + you can start adding some lemon zest into your recipes. It’s a win, win situation!
-Lastly, if you’re obsessed with Pantone’s 2016 colors of the year like we are, you’re wondering how to incorporate Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue. These colors are nature-inspired and so beautiful in a variety of applications! These colors will stay true for quite some time; so don’t be afraid to paint walls, chairs or even cabinets in these trendy hues. Feel free to revisit our Pantone post for some inspiration reminders.
Whatever the season change brings your way, we can promise you your home will be looking fantastic and you’ll be feeling fresh! Happy decorating APJ readers!
