Market comes and goes so quickly! Team LED made sure to walk every square foot of the campus viewing all of the new product, snapping images of our faves, and noting the overall trends. What should you expect for 2018 in the beautiful world of interiors, furnishings, home décor and design? Let us share with you…..
Romantics & Realists. Design is evoking deep emotions, sense, imagination, justice, liberty and a connection with nature- just as art history depicts from 1720-1830. Jewel tones and shades of blue, indigo, purples and black will make a prominent appearance. Abstract art will be popular, such as this piece by Leftbank Art pictured below, as will abstract designs in rugs.
Raw wood finishes will bring the outdoors in and help connect us with nature and promote wellness. We’ll see a lot wood in a variety of finishes used as wall panelling, exposed furniture design and accessories. With the lunar Chinese New Year coming up, many vendors highlighted this festive time by incorporating designs for the Year of the Dog. Team LED loved these quirky and fun novelty accessories, we foresee many of them adorning homes to tell a story and curate unique and individual spaces! How awesome are these pup accessories? This poodle lamp is funky, a recreated piece by Currey & Co. but originally what put Phyllis Morris on the design map. It comes in gold, white and pink!
This space by Dovetail showcases that raw wood in a dining table, uses large palms to bring the outside in and introduces personality through these brass bar light fixtures.
With the hints of romantics and realists comes a sense of sensuality, sexuality and emotion. We saw this portrayed in a variety of showrooms, a couple of our faves pictured below. The chic metallic faces biting their lips from Phillips Collection & Leftbank Art’s artistic faces are dimensional and fun.
Citrine & Warm Tones
A color story you may not hear mentioned, but we found EVERYWHERE was the introduction of glowing, earthy, citrine tones. Burnt oranges add warmth in artwork, upholstery, leathers, glass, accessories- anywhere you want to put it. We love it! These neon pieces found at Resource Decor definitely play into the romantics and sensuality trend we were talking about.
Curvilinear lines were everywhere, especially when we weren’t expecting it. Some vendors did such a great job highlighting curvilinear metals in the details of their chairs, large light fixtures, upholstery and tables. We cannot wait to incorporate a few of these Sunpan and Global Views pieces into our projects.
We hope you liked tagging along- keep your eyes peeled for these trends! We’ll keep you in the loop as we incorporate them into our projects this year.
