I just returned from an amazing trip, I experienced many “firsts” during my travels! My first visit to the state of North Carolina, my first experience at High Point Market, my first mastermind coaching event with one hell of a business woman Terri Taylor (stay tuned for a future post on her and the fearless team she leads), my first time meeting the one and only … K E L L Y W E A R S T L E R ! Need I say more???! I’m still on cloud 9 a week later!
Okay let me relax (for now) and get back on track. When I booked my trip to North Carolina I had no idea what I was in for, this is why I will make my way back in the near future. I only allowed for one day at High Point Market and this was my mistake. To take in the 180 showrooms over six days is nearly impossible, but Amber (one of my amazing design assistants) and I successfully covered a large footprint in just five hours. We attended our coaching event three days prior to the start of High Point Market and were given tips and lists of must-see showrooms by some of the other designers, what a huge help that was! Thank you Mindy!!
Upon arrival, we decided to hit the main building, IHFC. This building reminded me a lot of our design mecca in Las Vegas, the World Market Center. Our first stop set the tone for the rest of our day, it was amazing… we met the energetic and oh so passionate Aviva Stanoff! What a force of nature she is; not only is her design drool-worthy, but her personality and vibe is powerful. I immediately recognized her work when we turned the corner, I’ve been a fan since seeing her beautiful lingerie pressed fabric in a local showroom I love, Urban Chic. Aviva’s space was adorned in an array of throws, rugs, pillows, art, crystals and much more! I am even more excited to incorporate her work into my projects now that I have met her.. a true artisan!
We chatted it up with Aviva for a few minutes, we even exchanged info to meet up in Las Vegas to dance the night away the next time she was in town. Amber and I are officially mesmerized! Next we wandered over to Luna Bella… such a whimsical line! It’s always top on my list at Las Vegas Market. Generally it is frowned upon to take photos in their showroom, I was able to click a couple though!
I was immediately drawn to the Nuevo Living showroom, between all of the metallic finishes mixed with marble and glass… I was a happy designer! The seating collection, shelving units, and light fixtures were some of my favorites. What do you think, on trend or what with the rose gold/copper?!!
Next we made our way to the Emporium Home showroom where we were lucky enough to catch Ashely Childers, the creative genius behind the line. She is as sweet as her pieces … a Southern Belle with charm and true beauty. I love her use of natural stones with metal, and especially her mixing of pastels with bold pops of hot pink and coral. Her aesthetic is feminine with a touch of earthy. The canvas painting in the first and last photo was created by Ashely as well, I love it!
Another showroom that caught my attention: Tempaper, a company specializing in self adhesive, repositionable, temporary, wallpaper. They have some really great patterns, this product is perfect for rental situations, kids’ rooms, or anyone who loves to switch it up every once in awhile!
B.Pila Design carries unique, one of a kind items that can be customized to your space. I particularly loved the bench swing, can’t you imagine using that daily? The Player’s Sling Chair below was also one of my favorite items in the showroom. If lucite is your thing (and how couldn’t it be?)… visit their website, you won’t be disappointed!
To avoid sensory overload… stay tuned for Part 2 of my High Point Market experience. If you like what you’ve seen so far, I promise it only gets better! Happy Sunday everyone!
